How It Works at Choosi
It starts with a consultation, not a contract
Your first visit is a conversation with a provider about your skin type, your hair color and texture, your health history, and what you actually want from the treatment. Some of that matters more than people expect. Hormonal conditions can change how hair regrows. Certain medications increase light sensitivity. Recent sun exposure affects timing. A good plan accounts for all of it, which is why we ask before we treat.
Occasionally the honest answer is that laser is not the right tool for someone's hair or goals. You will hear that plainly if it applies to you. A consultation here is not a sales script with a clipboard; it is where the clinical decision gets made.
Then a patch test, before anything else
Before your series is scheduled, your provider treats a small test spot using the settings planned for your skin, then watches how your skin responds. The Candela GentleMax Pro Plus carries two wavelengths so it can be matched to your skin tone, and the patch test confirms that match on you, not on a chart. Treatment protocols run under the medical direction of Dr. Tiffany Hall, board-certified OB/GYN.
Your session plan, in writing
After the consultation and patch test, your provider sets the plan: which areas, how many sessions, how far apart, and what the series costs. Most areas need 6 to 8 sessions. The number is an estimate grounded in your hair and skin, and your provider explains the reasoning behind it, so if your course runs shorter or longer than average you understand why rather than wondering what went wrong.
Sessions, spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart
Hair grows in cycles, and the laser only affects follicles in the active growth phase, called anagen. At any given moment, only a fraction of the hair in an area is in anagen. Each session treats that fraction; the 4 to 8 week gap lets the next wave cycle in. This cadence is biology, not scheduling policy, and it is the reason no reputable practice promises results from one visit.
The sessions themselves are short. Underarms take minutes; legs take longer. Most people describe the sensation as a quick snap of heat with each pulse, made noticeably more comfortable by the device's built-in cooling. If comfort is the question holding you back, we wrote about it honestly at does laser hair removal hurt.
How the series ends
Your series ends on your provider's read of your results, not on a contract clause. At the end of the planned course, you and your provider look at the treated area together and talk about what changed. For most people that is a significant, lasting reduction. Here is the part worth saying plainly: laser hair removal delivers long-term reduction, not guaranteed permanence. Some people want an occasional maintenance session down the road, and hair driven by hormonal conditions can regrow in ways a provider should plan around with you. If maintenance makes sense for you, you will hear it as a clinical recommendation with a reason attached, never as fine print you discover after the fact.
