Skin concern
Hyperpigmentation
Dark patches are melanin, the pigment that gives skin its color, produced unevenly. Laser results begin in seven to 10 days and develop across four to six weeks.
What is actually happening?
Melanocytes, the cells that make pigment, respond to a signal by making more of it. When that response is uniform you tan. When it is concentrated in one place you get a patch. Everything else about this concern is a question of which signal, because the signal determines the treatment and the realistic outcome.
Four patterns account for most of what people bring in. Sun spots, or solar lentigines, are flat brown marks with defined edges on the areas that get the most light. Melasma is symmetrical patching across the cheeks, forehead, and upper lip that tracks hormonal change, including pregnancy and hormonal contraception, and it recurs. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is the mark left after the skin has been inflamed, by acne, by a cut, or by an aggressive procedure, and it is more pronounced and more persistent in deeper skin tones. Freckles are genetic and darken with sun.
That last category is the reason a pigment plan is also a sequencing decision. If breakouts are still arriving, treating the marks they leave is working against a moving target, so active acne comes first.
How does Choosi answer it?
Lutronic Ultra, for pigment across all skin types
A non-ablative 1927 nm thulium laser that targets pigment deposits without removing the surface layer. Treated pigment rises and sheds naturally, which is why change starts around seven to 10 days and fills in over four to six weeks. Because it works below the surface it is the usual choice for Fitzpatrick types IV to VI, the deeper end of the six-point scale for how skin responds to light. See skin rejuvenation.
GentleMax Pro, for defined spots on lighter skin
The Alexandrite wavelength, at 755 nm, is efficient on discrete brown spots in lighter skin tones. Initial clearing appears after one to two weeks, and a course usually runs three to five sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. Individual results vary.
A medical-grade peel, for melasma and diffuse discoloration
The VI Peel is one of the few chemical peels formulated for all Fitzpatrick types, and it is used for melasma specifically. Application takes about 30 minutes, peeling runs from roughly day three to day seven, and a series is spaced four to six weeks apart. Where tone and texture both need work, Correct & Polish sequences a HydraFacial and three laser sessions into one plan.

Asked about pigment
How long before pigment starts to clear?
With laser treatment, change usually begins in seven to 10 days as treated pigment rises to the surface and sheds, with fuller results over four to six weeks. A typical series is three to five sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, and individual results vary.
Why does my pigment keep coming back?
Because the trigger is still there. Melasma responds to hormones and to ultraviolet light, so it is managed over time rather than removed once. Daily sun protection is not an upsell here, it is the part of the plan that decides whether the rest of it holds.
Is laser pigment treatment appropriate for deeper skin tones?
Yes, with the right device and a conservative approach. Melanin-rich skin can respond to aggressive heat by making more pigment, so treatment favors the Lutronic Ultra and RF microneedling, runs at lower energy, and allows longer intervals between sessions.
Sun spots, melasma, and post-acne marks look alike and behave differently. Identifying which you have comes first.
