Skin concern
Acne scars
Scarring is a healing pattern, not active acne, and it responds to collagen work rather than to cleansing. Most plans run at least three to four sessions, with results still building for weeks afterward.
What is actually happening?
A deep acne lesion damages the dermis, the living layer under the surface of the skin. The body repairs it with collagen, and the repair is rarely a perfect match for what was there before. Slightly too little tissue leaves a depression. Slightly too much leaves a raised patch. Either way, the acne is finished and what remains is the record of the healing.
Depressed scars are called atrophic, and they come in three shapes worth knowing because they respond differently: ice pick scars are narrow and deep, boxcar scars are broader with defined edges, and rolling scars are shallow waves. Raised scars are called hypertrophic and come from an overproduction of collagen during healing. They stay within the border of the original lesion, which is what separates them from keloids.
Two things are worth checking before you assume you are looking at a scar. A flat mark with no texture change is usually hyperpigmentation, and it is treated on a different path. And if breakouts are still arriving, the sequence usually starts with active acne, since new lesions can create new scarring while you treat the old.
How does Choosi answer it?
RF microneedling, for depressed scars at several depths
The Candela Matrix combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy, treating scar tissue at multiple depths while the skin between the needles is left alone. The needles are insulated, so heat is delivered below the melanin-rich surface rather than through it. Collagen production continues after the appointment, which is why results keep improving for several weeks. It sits inside skin rejuvenation.
Laser resurfacing with Lutronic Ultra
A non-ablative 1927 nm thulium laser, meaning it works through the surface rather than removing it. A full-face pass takes 6 to 8 minutes and delivers roughly 12,000 microbeams that prompt collagen renewal underneath. Expect a series of at least three to four treatments, after which the remodeling can hold for a year or more. Individual results vary.
A structured series when pigment travels with the scarring
When discoloration sits alongside the texture change, the plan usually treats both. Correct & Polish sequences one HydraFacial to prepare the skin and then three laser sessions, so tone and texture are handled in one plan instead of two unrelated bookings.

Asked about acne scarring
Is a dark mark left after a breakout a scar?
Often it is not. A flat brown or purple mark with no change in texture is usually post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, a pigment response rather than a change in the tissue itself, and it is treated as a pigment concern. A true scar changes the surface, either as a depression or as raised tissue.
How many sessions does acne scar work usually take?
Plan on a series rather than one visit. Laser resurfacing is typically at least three to four sessions, and the collagen remodeling it starts keeps improving for several weeks after the last one. Individual results vary, and your provider sets the number after looking at your scar type.
Can this be done on deeper skin tones?
Yes, and the choice of device is how that is handled. RF microneedling uses insulated needles that bypass the melanin-rich surface layer, and the Lutronic Ultra is non-ablative, so both are the usual selections for Fitzpatrick types IV to VI where surface heat can leave pigment behind.
Scar type decides the device. One look settles which of these belongs in your plan.
