What is actually happening?
Skin makes less collagen and elastin from the mid-20s onward, so it becomes thinner and less able to spring back. Every expression you make folds it in the same place. For years that fold releases completely. Eventually the skin holds a trace of it, and that trace is what you start to notice in photographs before you notice it in the mirror.
